2001 Beaux Freres Pinot Noir Beaux Frerers Vineyard

At first, many interesting flavors but lacking some primary fruits. Then after an hour opens up, and shows its stuff. This wine has many years of growth ahead. Review is after 2 hours. Pure, complex flavors, like an outstanding burgundy. Very precise with mushrooms, earth and spicy, sour cherries. Changes after every sip. Nice, 20-30 second smooth finish. At this price does not merit an A, but I would welcome more in my cellar. It would have an A if the finish lasted 10-20 seconds longer.

Grade: A-

What an elegant wine. Sitting at our new teak table in the yard. It's a full moon. I thought I saw a shooting start but then I realized it was a firefly. OH well. Mikey wants to know what does this have to do with the wine? Um. Nothing. But I like this moment. I like this wine. I like Mikey. There's a slight citrus zest.
