2001 Martinelli Moonshine Ranch Pinot Noir
Hard at first, but then after 20 minutes opens into something lovely. Quite new world in style. Vibrant and fruit driven with velvet violets and candied dark cherries. Even though no one would confuse it for burgundy, or even an Oregon pinot, it has mushrooms, truffles and underbrush. One lesson repeated for me is that Martinelli wines age well. I want you to appreciate wine. Next time you try something that tastes good, ask yourself, what about the wine do you like? Pick out characteristics that stand out. Not only will you enjoy yourself even more, you will be able to remember the wine. All this joy will further the wine industry, which will in turn create better wine. May be hard to find (only 239 cases made), but worth the effort.
