2004 Turley Zinfandel Ueberroth Vineyard

From a vineyard planted in the 1880s . Inky purple velvet. Tight and hard at first. After 30 minutes I am in awe. The smell has the complexity of a Côte Rôtie, but add some gunpowder and forest, and add additional crushed pepper. Very nice balance and poise for such a large scaled package. Really exceptional. With mac and cheese.

I paid about $45 from the Turley mailing list. Current retail is $70. It is worth joining their list to try their unique zinfandel and petite syrah. I have 2 bottles of the '05 Uberroth coming, and I can not wait! I may have to see if I can get more : Turley Cellars
