2001 Kay Brothers Shiraz Hillside Amery Vineyards

Huge glycerin, smoky over-ripe stewed fruits, and fat, round and viscus. Hugh finish. This is a bruiser. Very over the top Australian, no one would mistake it for anything else. That all said, I'd like to see come more complexity/ subtlety in this price range. Still, I am enjoying it. Drank with chicken curry. Good pairing- the wine stood up fine to the spice.

Retail $35
Grade: B+

I didn't even know I liked these punchy boxy style wines. I'm more of a subtle Burgundy fan. HOWEVER, this wine rocked. It was raw and feisty and yummy. Thanks Mikey!
