2005 Marc Bredif Chinon

This is a light style, fairly lean, acidic fun wine. It has flint, fresh herbs, lively mineral laced fruits, in a simple package. It is not awe inspiring, but would work well and a summery wine, in place of a white. It is a rare red that could work with a lemon based sauce. It is a lot of wine for the price, and is certainly a solid example from this region, in the outstanding 2005 vintage. Retail $15, grade: B+
