2005 Martinelli Sauvignon Blanc Tessa Lee

We made the mistake of starting to drink this on its own, before dinner, after a hard workout. It appeared to be high in alcohol and acidic, and 2 sips made me tipsy. Then we started eating our spicy Indian food, and it turned into a knock-out. Melted citrine color, and impressive aromatics of minerals, cotton candy, Jill's birthday angel food cake, vanilla bean, and spice. Massive palate, and excellent oily mouth feel, but with expert balancing acids behind all the fruit. Very long finish. This wine is really a treat. Drink it with spicy food, and learn a lesson about wine paring. Retail $28, grade A.
