2006 Baker Lane Syrah

I was given this bottles as a gift. Please, keep giving me wine to try. I always learn something when trying a new wine.
It has an excellent dark ruby color. The aromas are strange. There's something like poop. Some other more compelling aromas of cherry liquor, and fresh baked cake. On the palate, it is simple, and robust, with a cherry juice, and not much else. The fruit tastes pure, but it lacks the complexity of wine in this price range. At $10, I'd be excited, but not at this price. Retail $40, grade: B-.
