2006 Pyramid Valley Vineyards Calvert Vineyard Pinot Noir

Captivating velvety purple looks. Smells good too. Like truffles, earth, mushrooms, and black cherries. Tastes much more like a Burgundy than an Oregon or California wine. Delicate, lithe and outstanding balance. Will this lovely wine from a screwtop bottle age? I will try to lay off one bottle for a while to see. It won't be easy. Overall, a delicious mouth full of pinot from New Zealand. Retail: $40, grade: A.

Mikey,

Sounds like a terrific wine. You should try to find the Craggy Range Calvert and also the Felton Road Calvert.

All made from the same grapes, by three different wine makers. So in theory it should be possible to discern the wine-makers input to the grapes from the same terroir. . .
