Knickerbocker Tasting, part 2
AKA, I am the luckiest guy. I am so fortunate to have tasted the wines below with a fun group of people. What a great night. All these wines are very expensive, and most are available only at auction.
1992 Leflaive Chevallier Montrachet. Beautiful green apple precise minerals and gigantic finish. Minerals stones honeydew early blooming flowers. Beautiful work of art. Reminds me of the Sara Hughes gold medal performance. Like it is about to fall. But it doesn't. Grade: A+
1999 Roulot Meursault Perrieres. Oh my. What a monster. Huge and massive core with incredible detailed nectarines and a more than a 1 minute finish. So many minerals and saline. White burgundy at its peak. Grade: A+
1994 Coche Dury Meursault Chevalieres. Another incredible powerful white burgundy. Oaky and sweet and lusciously delicious with ripe summer floral fruits, minerals, so smooth and really long. Would never turn down a glass. Obvious but so good. Grade: A.
2002 leflaive batard montrachet. Ripe nose. Young and vibrant. Sponge cake, sweet. Age it. Stunning amazing wine making. Inspirational. A.
1990 Mugneret Ruchottes Chambertin. Most impeccable nose. Cherry pie, dirt and figs. Silky smooth and sappy. Keeps changing and growing. Charming. Very long finish. Great stuff. Grade: A.
1991 Mongeard-Mugneret Grand Echezeaux. Great. Really great. Lots of black dark fruits, vibrant, and delicious. I am feeling the impact of all this wine. Grade: A.
1994 Leroy Latricières-Chambertin. Great, but now I am drunk. No more grading.
1994 Philip Togni Cabernet Sauvignon. Classy like bordeaux, but heavy handed after the delicate burgundy.
