2003 Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1st Cru Les Goulots

Ruby red. Dark, brooding aromas of cherry liquor, menthol, sawdust, and blackberries. Sappy rich, full bodied palate and a core of almost over-ripe plums and figs. While it shows the heat of the vintage, it has a nice balance, and is quite easy to drink. An excellent example of the deals available in the current wine environment. I paid $60 at auction a year ago. At that time, the retail was $95. It is available now for $35 at Flickinger Wines.
