Dinner with our friends Liz and Don

Jill and I have so much fun with our friends Liz and Don. Don cooked an amazing meal on Oct 10, and we drank very well:

Selene 08 Sauvignon blanc hyde vineyard. Apricot and lemon rind. Some gun flint. Fresh and clean. Refreshing. Nice balance. Retail $25, grade: A-

Wine #2 was served blind. Like a batard? Beauty of a chard. Incredible impeccable expansive mouth feel and a very long finish. 2002 peter michael ma belle fille! Awesome. Aged really well. Don says maple. Maybe too much alcohol to be a burgundy but its got the complexity. Brioche full mouth. Makes me a peter michael fan. Auction only, grade: A

06 aubert rueling pinot. Jill says like a jewel. Don says like all aubert in a fresh style. Rich and luxurious. Dark. Compelling aromas of blue and black fruits. Like a pine forest. Lots of alcohol an the back. As it warms the alcohol comes out. Don says better than kosta Browne but we agree not $200 good. Grade: B

1995 Durcru-Beaucaillou. Huge brooding and dark. Perfect cigar box and pencil. Awesome balance and really well made wine. Outrageous menthol. Such smooth and long tannins. Will live a really long time. Beats most first growths. Textbook Bordeaux. Retail $150, Grade: A.
