2004 Dominio de Atauta Ribera del Duero Atalayas de Golban

Very dark and full. Outstanding concentration, structure and balance between dark, bursting fruits, tannins and acids. Would try to age a few more years- this would improve with complexity. Quite easy to drink now. Drank by itself, but would work with almost any food, except for the exceptionally mild. Grade: A www.whatwouldmikeydrink.com

2004 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Beaux Bruns

Needed a long time to open up. After more than 2 hours, it is still improving. Seemed to hit its stride after almost 3 hours. Pure, wild, reticent dark fruits, Sweet cherry and cranberry. Lovely earthiness, and sappy pine towards the end of the finish. Everything is here, but needs many more years to come [...]

2004 Kistler Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Utterly stunning. Amazing crushed violets, candied cherry and porcini mushroom. Will age, grow and evolve for a long time. Wish I had more. Kistler makes my favorite American pinot. With fluke in a buerre blanc sauce. As good as anything, anywhere at the release price. Grade: A+ www.whatwouldmikeydrink.com

1998 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie Brune et Blonde

Lovely dark ruby, funky nose including dirt, forest floor, and truffle. Excellent balance between acids, tannins and fruit, very complex, long finish. Will improve for at least a few more years. We opened 2+ hours before the first full glass. It was much better as the evening went on. Decant or open early. Benjamin brought [...]

2004 Domaine Fourrier Morey St. Denis Clos Solon

Pretty color and burgundian nose of waxy cherries and cola. On the palate however, mostly cola and tannins. Lacking in fruit. Not a pleasure to drink. Hopefully it will improve. I have 8 bottles left. By itself, on a sunny day. Grade: C www.whatwouldmikeydrink.com

1998 Albert Grivault Meursault 1er Cru Clos des Perrières

Incredible nose with banana, stones, minerals and must. Liquid gold color. Bright and light on its feet. Laser precision. Then red grapefruit and vanilla on the palate. Drink up- will not improve. Got better for the first hour, then started to loose fruit. With Benjamin’s chicken stir-fry, and from his cellar. Thanks Benjamin! Grade: A [...]

1995 Daniel Bocquenet Echezeaux

Killer cherry, funk, violets. Concentrated cola. Tuns of terroir. With the effort to find. David Beckwith tells me Bocquenet owns some of the best vines in Echezeaux. Andrew de Montille says “tastes like springtime”. With wonderful quail at Trimophe. Grade: A www.whatwouldmikeydrink.com
