1999 Kistler Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard

Dark golden.   Vanilla and honeydew nose.    Rich and full bodied, with lots of well integrated oak.   Long, smooth finish.  This is a pure Californian chardonnay.   No mistaking it for a burgundy.   A treat on a nice sunny day.    This probably won’t get any better, but no rush to drink it.   Retail about [...]

2005 Vogue Chambolle Musigny

Dark ruby.  Compelling aromas of blackberries. Silky Chambolle fruit.    This shows power and grace, and a nice finish.  Delicious.   However, at this price it is a let down.  Lacking depth and an extra dimension I expect from burgundy in this category.   From the nearly perfect 2005 vintage in burgundy, from a top [...]

2008 Rivers Marie Pinot Noir Summa Old Vines

Opened this to celebrate my wonderful wife.  At first new world and lots of alcohol showing.  After an hour, it is fantastic.    Dark pitched, earthy, gamy aromas.  Wild cherry, rhubarb, cherry syrup palate.  Lush, full and sweet entry.  Then a clinging, vibrating finish.   What’s amazing  here is the alive sensation on the finish.  It vibrates [...]

2008 Anthill Pinot Noir Tina Marie Vineyard

This is the darkest of the Anthill pinots I’ve tried.    Sexy aromas of lavender, cinnamon, and sweet cherries.  Then dense yet light on the palate and such silky smooth tannins.  Cranberries, pine, evergreen.  Sneaky, long finish.  A real treat.  Sign up for this mailing list, the only place this wine is available.   This wine has [...]
