2007 Mugnier Chambolle les Fuees

Amazing smoky ash nose perfect- exactly what I expect from Chambolle. Very strong sense of place and harmonic. Long and everyone loves it. Staining finish.   To drink soon.  In general, 07 reds are excellent early drinkers.  Retail $120, Grade: A. We drank this at Ma Cusine in Beaune.  Great home cooking.

2007 Merry Edwards Pinot Noir Meredith Estate

Dark violet.    At first this showed a lot of heat, but after an hour it has mellowed.   Lovely floral lavender aromas.   Fruit driven, full attack on the body and a nice, long, smooth finish.  This is distinctly Californian but it works well.   Expensive but a treat.  Thanks Pat!  Reatil $54, Grade: [...]
