2008 Aldo Conterno Masante Dolcetto

Inky dark ruby.   Dark cherry, anise aromas.   Quite dark fruits.   Some coffee too.  Full, floral and lush palate, with a tannic, chocolaty finish.   Jill made a roasted chicken with root veggies and this rocked as a pairing.  This isn’t the most complex wine but it is quite tasty.    Great Sunday dinner wine.    I bought [...]

2005 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Spatlese

Pale gold.  Picks up steam over the hour we have it open.   At first it was flinty and petrol, but now smells like papaya, guava, pineapple.   Sweet, decadent and regal,  with a perfect acidic balance to all the sweetness.    Palate staining finish.  For such a fun wine it’s got a serious side.  [...]

NV Pierre Moncuit Moncuit- Delos Brut
