This has long faded, but still some interest. A dark ruby color. Muted aromas of leather, sage and sand. Fruit mostly gone from the palate, but there’s a nice softness and it is still drinkable. Certainly not a great wine, but I paid about 1/3 of the current release. This is meant as a pasta [...]

2009 Red Newt Cellars Davis Farms Vineyards Riesling
Pale golden. Succulent aromas of peaches, guava, and orange rind. Easy to drink with outstanding intensity to its building frame of grapefruit and litchi. Long and dense. Given the materials and depth this should age a long time. Too bad its my only bottle. This certainly isn’t Germanic (it has no petrol), however [...]
2009 Hudelot-Noellat Chambolle-Musigny
Fantastic dark color. Full, rich and decadent palate, with gobs of spiced black cherry pasty flavor. Some oak that’s nicely integrated. Tell-tale Chambolle smoke. This isn’t the most complex wine, but I found it for $22 and it might be my all time favorite value. I bought a lot of it and its been a [...]
1994 B.R. Cohn Cabernet Sauvignon Olive Hill Vineyard
Quite youthful dark ruby color. Wild sun kissed aromas of olives and prunes. Its not just the name of the vineyard, this has an unmistakable olive paste component. Excellent balance and a nicely made wine. Some cigar and tobacco. This is drinking great right now. I might have to go on a 1994 California Cab [...]
2001 Henri Boillot Meursault Poruzots
Dark golden. Briny nose. Fat palate. Josh says more batard than meursault. Totally delish but not so specific. Long rich and powerful. Toasty. Not premox! Boillot is a great producer. josh say borderline A-/ B+ but leaning towards A- for value (I paid $50) Matt says copper penny- spot on! Grade: A-
