Deep dark golden. Not a hint of oxidization! Pretty butter laced lemon rind nose, with wildflower honey. Mellow stones and tangerines on the palate. Long, smooth finish. This aged very well and has impecable balance for such a broad wine. This may have been better a few years back but is not done yet, but [...]

2009 Maybach Cabernet Sauvignon Amoenus
Sexy dark purple. Plums and sun kissed figs aromas. Slow building liveliness on the palate, with cake, a nice mixture of red and black fruits, This is a luxury, plush dark and jucy with velvet tannins. I wonder about how well it will age, but it is all together now and has ample structure. Very [...]
2002 Joseph Phelps Insignia
At first slightly corky but it blew off. Dark to the rim. Pure and ripe. This completely avoids the green pepper elements of cabernet. Dark fruits. So smooth and tasty. Don says not one of his best bottles of this but still tasty. Nice 45 second finish. Retail $150, Grade: A-.
2009 Sine Qua Non On The Lam
Deep golden. Looks older than 3 years. Compelling vanilla, honey and tangerine aromas. Great waxy deep texture. Palate is considerably sweeter than the nose. This is seamless and luxurious and quite long. Delicious right now. Not sure how it will age given 15.5% alcohol. Very nice treat. Thanks Don! 48%Roussanne, 35% Chardonnay and 17% Viognier. [...]
2009 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling QbA
Pale golden. Simple yet tasty. Grapefruit, honeydue and a kiss of tell-tale petrol. Don says could pass for a Spatlese. Very nice at under $10.
2007 Saxum Heart Stone Vineyard
Impenetrable purple. At first a little hot but all the layers are there. I decanted through a Venturi and let it sit an hour. Screaming after that. Like a Brazilian steak house, with salty rare beef. Spice cake, pepper, bacon, and gravel. Very long (60+ seconds). Absolutely delicious. Grade: A
2008 W.H. Smith Pinot Noir Martine Vineyard
Light ruby. 07 red burgundy color. Interesting mushroom, cola, and forest floor aromas. Not completely flowing on the palate with woodsy bitterness covering the cherries. The finish is long but a little green. Not at all what I was expecting. This is reserved, shy and delicate, but a little heavy handed. Interesting but not great. [...]
2010 Copain Syrah Baker Ranch
Color like a pinot. Floral and rare beef aromas. Very fresh palate, not just because of its youth. Peppery cherry juice and pomegranate. Some old woodsy flavors. More pinot-like. I wouldn’t guess American Syrah. I never had one like this. A fun and easy to drink wine. What I like best is [...]
2003 Dumol Syrah
Pop and pour. Screaming right away. Seemless and delicious. Olive paste. Very powerful and fragrant. Tannins smooth and quite long. Like a more powerful, concentrated version of a Chave St Joseph. Absolutely incredible quality for an entry level Syrah. My only issue with this wine is that I paid $20 at auction recently, and [...]
